Nithin PUTHIYA VEETTIL Faces Charges of Child Pornography Possession

THUNDER BAY – Thunder Bay Police arrested a 30-year-old man Tuesday following an investigation involving the possession of child pornography.

The Thunder Bay Police Service’s Cyber Crime Unit began an investigation on May 7, 2020, after learning suspected child pornography was being downloaded by a local Internet user.

Police later identified a suspect as the Internet user connected to their investigation.

On Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2020, just after 8:45 am EDT Cyber Crime Unit officers, with assistance from members of the Community Oriented Response (COR) Unit, executed a search warrant at a residential address in the 400 block of Hodder Avenue.

During the search, police seized an electronic device that contained image files consistent with child pornography. A suspect was arrested at the scene without incident.

Several other electronic devices were seized and the investigation remains ongoing.

Nithin PUTHIYA VEETTIL, 30, is charged with Possession of Child Pornography.

He appeared in bail court on Wednesday, October 21, 2020, and was remanded into custody with a future appearance date.

None of the charges have been proven in a court of law
