Balmertown Man Faces Drug Charges

RED LAKE, ON – On January 28, 2020 officers from the Red Lake detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) with the assistance of officers from Kenora Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau (OCEB), Dryden and Kenora CSCU and Provincial Operations Intelligence Bureau (POIB) executed a search warrant on a residence in Balmertown.

A quantity of cocaine with a street value of approximately $7,000 was seized as well as a small quantity of Canadian currency.

As a result of the investigation, James McKEE, 24, of Balmertown was arrested and charged with Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking Cocaine contrary to Section 5(2) of the Controlled Drug and Substances Act, Possession of Proceeds of Property obtained by Crime under $5000 contrary to Section 354(1)(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada and Failure to Comply with Probation Order contrary to Section 733.1(1) of the Criminal Code of Canada.

McKee was released on an Undertaking to appear in Red Lake court on March 12, 2020, to answer to the charges.
