Moondogs End Border Cats Winning Streak

THUNDER BAY – SPORTS – The Border Cats three-game winning streak came to an end Friday night as they fell 4-2 to the Mankato MoonDogs at Franklin Rogers Park.  The Cats (3-8), took a 2-0 lead on single runs in the 3rd and 4th innings as Karsten Vasquez (Sacramento City College) singled home Bryce Jorgenson (Minnesota-Crookston) for the first run of the night and Ryne Edmondson (Houston Baptist University) brought home Jakob Newton (Florida Tech University) with a sacrifice fly.

But the MoonDogs tied it with with a pair of runs in the 5th inning and added two more in the 7th inning on a double Dayton Dooney (Arizona).

Lefthander Joey Hect (Daytona State College) started on the mound for Thunder Bay and pitched 3 1/3 scoreless innings while DJ Depiero (Bradley University) took the loss in relief.  Tyler Lesley (Angelo State) allowed only five hits over eight innings for the win.

The Border Cats and MoonDogs wrap up their two game series Saturday night at 7:05 pm ET.

The Border Cats will return home to play the La Crosse Loggers on Tuesday, June 11 at 7:05 PM at the Port Arthur Stadium. Tuesdays are great nights to introduce the kids to the Border Cats as kids tickets are only $2, along with $2 for a slice of Eal Local Pizza and $2 for a pop.
