Armed Robbery Arrest made in Trixxx South Core Incident

THUNDER BAY – Thunder Bay Police Service officers have arrested a male in connection with a violent armed robbery of a south-side business.

Police were originally dispatched to the Trixxx store on 107 May Street North on Friday, May 3 just after 7 pm following reports of a robbery that had just occurred. Trixxx is one of the few retail locations open in the downtown south core in the evening hours.

An investigation revealed a male entered the business brandishing a knife and demanded money from the clerk.

As the clerk attempted to call 911, the accused grabbed the cash register and slammed it onto the floor multiple times. When the cash register drawer was forced open the accused grabbed an undisclosed amount of money and fled.

Through the course of the investigation, a detective with the service’s Community Response Team was able to identify a suspect on Saturday, May 4.

Officers located and approached the accused just after 1 pm on Saturday. The accused attempted to flee once officers identified themselves, but officers were still able to apprehend the accused and complete the arrest.

The accused was also found to be in possession of a substance believed to be Fentanyl.

Adam Jeffrey THOMPSON, 41, of Thunder Bay is charged with Robbery, Disguise with Intent, Mischief Under $5,000, and Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance.

The accused appeared in court Sunday and was remanded into custody with a future appearance date. None of the charges have been proven in court.
