THUNDER BAY – SPORTS – Two divers represented Thunder Bay Diving Club at the 51st annual Polar Bear Classic in Winnipeg over the weekend. This national level competition had three provinces entered and served as a qualifier for both the Junior National Championships in July, as well as the Senior National Championships in May.

Walker Ross competed against other 10-year-old boys in the 1m and 3m springboard events, as well as the 3m platform. At his first national level competition, he earned bronze medals in all three events, as well as a 100% qualifying standard score in the 3m springboard. Divers require either two 100% scores or one 110% score to qualify for the Junior National Championships in Regina this year.

Michael Doerr competed in the 11-year-old boy’s category on 1m and 3m springboards, as well as the 5m platform. Doerr won bronze in the 3m springboard, placed 4th and 5th in the 5m platform and 1m springboard, respectively.
Thunder Bay Diving Club’s next competition is the Ontario Spring Provincials, March 1-3 in London.
