Wind northwest 15 knots backing to southwest 15 this morning then increasing to southwest 20 this afternoon. Wind veering to northwest 25 this evening then diminishing to northwest 15 overnight. Wind increasing to northwest 20 Thursday morning and to northwest 25 Thursday afternoon.

THUNDER BAY – WEATHER – There are gale warnings in effect for Western Lake Superior.

Environment Canada says that there is also a wave warning in effect as well.

The forecast calls for “Wind northeast 15 knots increasing to northeast 20 early this morning and to northeast 30 this evening. Wind increasing to northeast 40 overnight. Wind northeast 40 Wednesday”.

Waves one-metre building to one and one-half metres this morning and to 2 metres early this evening. Waves building to 3 to 4 metres by Wednesday morning.

On the southern portion of Lake Superior, Duluth is expecting large waves which could cause lakeshore flooding.
