74-year-old Woman has died following motor vehicle collision

THUNDER BAY – On July 14th, 2018, just after 7 pm, Thunder Bay Police were called to the area of Onion Lake Road near Aintree Avenue for a serious motor vehicle collision that had occurred. Officers attended and the roadway was closed to traffic for several hours while an investigation was conducted.

The investigation has revealed that a Black Hyundai was northbound on Onion Lake Road before leaving the roadway off the east shoulder. The motor vehicle struck a concrete curb, a rock, and a hydro pole prior to rolling over and coming to final rest on its roof.

There was only one occupant of the motor vehicle at the time of the collision, a 74-year-old Thunder Bay female, who was pronounced deceased at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Center shortly after the collision. The name of the deceased is not being released at this time at the request of the family.

The investigation is ongoing and the collision investigators are asking that anyone who may have witnessed the collision, and has not already spoken to police, to contact them at 684-1276.
