DULUTH, MN/SUPERIOR, WI – The Thunder Bay Peewee Queens took part in a series of 4 exhibition games this weekend in the Superior/Duluth area.

The Queens found themselves facing a pretty equal foe in the Hermantown Mirage on Friday night who’d get a late goal in the first period to go up 1-0. Despite the strong play of goaltender Mia Attema, the Queens couldn’t manage a goal of their own, ultimately losing 1-0.
Thunder Bay would have a more favourable score the next morning against Duluth. Paige Broughton scored half-way into the first to give the Queens the lead before exploding in the second with five answered goals from Avery Olenik, Ella Mannila, Joanna Martinsen and a pair of goals from Rhae Thomas. Goalie Abby Wills would stop all 13 shots she faced for the shutout as the Queens blanked Duluth 6-0
That evening saw the Chaska Chanhassen as the next challenger. Once again, Broughton would get things started with a first-period goal. Alexis Prepp and Olenik would pot goals late in the period to extend the lead. Manilla scored a goal in the second and then another in the third as Attema earned a shutout in a 5-0 win.
Finally, on Sunday morning the Queens faced Hibbing. Everything went Thunder Bay’s way in the first with Mannila, Broughton, Martinsen and Thomas all lighting the lamp in the first period. Bridget Cameron would score the lone goal in the second period. Olenik would get an early goal in the third and Mannila would notch her second of the game while Abby Wills got her second shutout of the weekend. 7-0 final.
Between the two goalies, Attema and Wills allowed 1 goal in 4 games.
