NIPIGON – WEATHER – Environment Canada has continued the snowfall warning for the north shore of Lake Superior.

Snowfall warning in effect for:

  • Marathon – Schreiber
  • Nipigon – Rossport
  • Geraldton – Longlac – Caramat
  • Nakina – Aroland – Pagwa
  • Beardmore – Jellicoe – Macdiarmid

Snowfall totals of 15 to 20 cm of snow expected by Wednesday morning.

Snow combined with strong northerly winds of 50 to 70 km/h is creating hazardous driving conditions north of Superior due to low visibilities in snow and blowing snow. The strong wind accompanying any wet snow accumulation on trees is also resulting in power outages across portions of the region.

The snow will begin to taper off tonight.

Road conditions are expected to be icy and snow covered to snow packed. For the latest conditions call 511.

If travel is not vital, consider delaying your trip.

This wintery weather is attributed to an intense fall storm tracking just north of Sault Ste. Marie.
