Sault Ste Marie – Freezing Rain Warning

SAULT STE MARIE – WEATHER – Northeastern Ontario is expecting freezing rain today and into the evening hours.

Environment Canada has issued a Freezing Rain Warning for the area. Highway travel is likely to be impacted.

Freezing rain warning in effect for:

  • Sault Ste. Marie – St. Joseph Island

Ice build-up due to freezing rain is expected or occurring.

Freezing rain developing early this evening.

Snow is expected to begin this morning, becoming mixed with ice pellets this afternoon. 5 to 10 cm of snow and ice pellets is expected before changing to freezing rain early this evening.

The freezing rain will change to rain Saturday morning as temperatures rise above the freezing mark.

Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots will become icy, slippery and hazardous. Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions. Poor weather conditions may contribute to transportation delays.
