Hamilton, Ont. – SPORTS – The Lakehead Thunderwolves women’s volleyball team lost their first non-conference game 3-1 (19-25, 26-24, 14-25, 10-25) to Ryerson at the McMaster Thanksgiving Tournament.

“This afternoon we started very well and came out playing a fast game with good intensity”, said Coach Green after the game. “The first 2 sets were very positive and confident volleyball but the next 2 seemed to have us looking flat and tired”.

The coaches felt that the first two sets showed how well the ‘Wolves can play as a team, but the women must be able to overcome adversity and play consistently throughout the entirety of the game in order to be successful this season.

The ‘Wolves were led by 4th year Sara potter with 10 kills and 5 digs and, Rachel Moore was a threat behind the serving line and at the net with 5 kills.

Jennifer Hammerton had a strong start in her first game in the OUA with 22 assists.

The women will look to play hard and better their mistakes tomorrow when they play Nippissing at 11:00am.
