THUNDER BAY – A section of Memorial Avenue between Sixth Avenue and the Harbour Expressway will be closed overnight on Monday, July 25 to accommodate various asphalt repairs.

The closure is scheduled for Monday at 6 pm, weather permitting, and the road is expected to be reopened at 6 am the following day. In the event of inclement weather, the alternate closure date is set for Tuesday, July 26, with road access resuming on Wednesday.

Southbound traffic will be directed off Memorial Avenue starting at Sixth Avenue, and drivers can access Memorial again from the Harbour Expressway. Traffic heading north will be diverted from Memorial Avenue at the Harbour Expressway, and can rejoin Memorial from Central Avenue.

The intersections at Central Avenue, 11th Avenue, and the Harbour Expressway will remain open to allow for east-west travel. However, access to Memorial Avenue from 10th Avenue, 12th Avenue, and 13th Avenue will be closed.

Throughout the construction, pedestrian access will not be affected and regular business hours will continue for businesses located within the work area.

Those travelling near the construction zone are asked to use extra caution and obey all posted signage.
