Fentanyl and Caffeine in Presumed Percocet and Oxycodone

THUNDER BAY –  Nishnawbe-Aski Police Service (NAPS), Thunder Bay Police Service (TBPS), and Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are issuing a public warning regarding the purchasing of illegal street drugs, specifically, Percocet and Oxycodone (Oxys).

A significant quantity of drugs held out to be Percocets were recently seized by Police in Thunder Bay.

Police believe these pills were destined to be sold in the City of Thunder Bay and on remote First Nation Communities. Once analysed these pills were found to contain Fentanyl and Caffeine.

The use of these pills may result in a Fentanyl overdose by a drug user who is unaware of its presence.

Fentanyl is a synthetic opiate prescription drug used primarily for the treatment of cancer patients in severe pain. It is estimated to be 50 to 100 times more powerful than morphine (source: knowyoursource.ca).
