Forest Fire Update

THUNDER BAY – Wildfire Update – The forest fire hazard is forecast to rise through the week as warmer temperatures and clear weather continues.

There were no new fires confirmed in the Northwest Region by the afternoon of June 21.

Thunder Bay Fire 019, located about 40 kilometres north of Raith was declared out July 21 at 868 hectares in size.

Active fires in the region include:

  • Nipigon District Fire 21, located 31 kilometres northwest of Nakina is being held at 7.0 hectares in size
  • Red Lake District Fire 003, in Woodland Caribou Provincial Park, is being observed at a size of 74,334 hectare

The fire hazard is forecast to be mostly moderate on June 22 in the region.
