Programs that Help Enable a Better Thunder Bay

THUNDER BAY – Our Kids Count empowers people to help them in making healthier choices for eating and improving their lives. Gladys Berringer, the program’s Executive Director provides an overview of the program in this interview.

www.ourkidscount.ca provides individuals and families with the skills to empower them to make better choices for dining and living.

All the the programs offered by Our Kids Count are free.

What is special is that people gain the skills through the courses and programs to make their food budget stretch longer, and to make healthier choices.

Programs include prenatal and postnatal support, community kitchens, home visiting services, a young parents program, parenting and life skills.

Our Kids Count is also looking for volunteers as well, so if you would like to help make a difference in the lives of people right here in Thunder Bay, here is a great opportunity.

Interested individuals can stop by the McKenzie Family Resource Centre at 704 McKenzie Street, or the Westfort Family Resource Centre at 1315 Crawford Avenue. You can also call 346-6863 or 623-0292 for more information.
