Two Under Arrest in Sioux Lookout for Assault and Forcible Confinement

SIOUX LOOKOUT – CRIME – The Sioux Lookout Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have two Sioux Lookout residents under arrest for attempting to take the law into their own hands.

During the morning of August 29, 2015, officers were met outside the detachment by two residents who advised they had made a citizens arrest of an individual whom they suspected had committed a crime. The alleged suspect was turned over to the officers.

The investigation revealed that the alleged suspect was not responsible for the crime, and the subsequent actions of the citizens was not lawful.

As a result of this incident, 40 year old Wally Woods and 55 year old Pat Clara , both of Sioux Lookout, have been charged with assault and forcible confinement contrary to the Criminal Code.

They are scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Sioux Lookout on September 29, 2015.
