THUNDER BAY – Thunder Bay Police have laid charges over a weekend stabbing on Cumberland Street.

Ismo Tapio Ojaniemi a forty-nine-year old man is charged with aggravated assault in conjunction with the stabbing Saturday night at the Shoreline Hotel, where a fifty-one- year old male victim stabbed.

The injured man was transported to the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Police state that patrons of the Shoreline had assisted in subduing the accused until police arrived on scene.

Ojaniemi appeared in court and was remanded to the District Jail to reappear in court later today.

The investigation is ongoing.
