Thunder Bay Queens Womeen's HockeyTHUNDER BAY – It will be another action-packed weekend on the ice for the Thunder Bay Queens as a trio of clubs in the organization will be competing in three separate tournaments.

The Sportop midget AA squad will be in Faribault, Minn., taking part in the Shattuck-St. Mary’s Jamboree while the RBC Dominion Securities are in Detroit, Mich. to participate in Bauer World Hockey Invite and the midget A Queens will be at home challenging for the title in the Confederation College Caribou Classic.

Game action for the midget AA’s begins Friday at 7 p.m. when they take on the host Shattuck-St. Mary’s Sabres under-19 side.

Two games are then on tap for the squad Saturday starting with a 10 a.m. encounter with St. Francis of Xavier Academy of Edmonton followed by a 5 p.m. match-up vs. the Winnipeg Avros.

Their final contest goes Sunday with the opponent and start time based on how they fare in round robin play.

As for the bantam AA side, they have two tilts on the slate Friday in Detroit beginning with a meeting against the Chicago Young Americans at 10:30 a.m.

Their second contest of the day has the Etobicoke Dolphins of Toronto providing the opposition at 4 p.m.

Saturday has them tangling with the Milwaukee Jr. Admirals at noon with their remaining games to be determined by results.  

Locally the midget A Queens will be one of six clubs vying for the crown in the first-ever Caribou Classic.

They will commence vs. the Northern Stars of Winnipeg at 6:45 p.m. while the Lakehead University Thunderwolves will be their opponents Saturday at 10:30 a.m.

Next up will be the Dryden Eagles at 3 p.m. Saturday.

Semifinal and consolation round action goes Sunday morning followed by the gold medal game at noon.

All games in the Caribou Classic will be held at Fort William First Nation Arena.
