Jim Mauro Interview – Oct 11 2014

THUNDER BAY – CIVIC POLITICS – Jim Mauro is running in the Northwood Ward. This is Mauro’s first political campaign in terms of running for his own election, but certainly not the brother of Bill Mauro’s first political experience.

Jim Mauro started in September and has been on the ground door-knocking. A tour through Northwood shows an interesting sign battle as well as an engaged race between the four people running for office.

Mauro says that the issues on the ground in Northwood include healthcare, crime, the event centre, and infrastructure.

On the issue of crime, Mauro says that we should be studying and working to solve root causes of crime, but that we need to do things right now to deter crime. “People need to know there is a police officer near by”, states Mauro. “Some of the things being discussed are five, ten, or 15 years away from seeing results”.

Mauro discussed issues in Northwood in this in-depth interview.
