Police Deal with Pellet Gun in Weapons Call

Thunder Bay PoliceTHUNDER BAY – CRIME NEWS – Thunder Bay Police and a person with a pellet gun had a few tense moments last night. Thunder Bay Police responded to a weapons call just before 8:00PM EDT in the vicinity of High Street and Red River Road.

Police received reports of a male in the rear of a High Street residence pointing a firearm at the rear wall of the residence. When officers arrived they located a male holding a handgun. The male was arrested at gun point without incident.

Further investigation revealed that the handgun was a pellet gun. The male was released unconditionally after being cautioned by police about this activity.

Section 893.2.1 of the Municipal Code states:
No person shall use, shoot, fire or discharge any bow and arrow, crossbow, slingshot, catapult, blow-gun or any similar device designed or capable of firing projectiles and that are designed for or capable of use in , hunting or target shooting on, over, across or onto any property of the corporation. By-law 111-1987
Property is defined as any real property within the city of Thunder Bay, either private or public.
