THUNDER BAY – Women in Politics Group Hosting a Debate Workshop for Municipal Candidates

September 12, 2014/Thunder Bay   The Women in Politics Group will be hosting a Debate Workshop for municipal candidates Thursday, September 18 from noon to 1:30 p.m.

Dedicated to the advancement of women pursuing and serving as elected members of government at all levels, the group was organized just over one year ago and since then has hosted events, mentored individual candidates and provided overall support to women candidates.

The debate will include a short presentation, panel discussion and mock debate.  Registrants will have the opportunity to apply the skills learned during the mock debate as well as provide for assessment and recommendations.

“It’s about giving women, who may have never participated in a political debate, the opportunity to attend a session and become more familiar with the format,” said Rebecca Johnson, Co-Chair.  “The first time can be daunting and we want to make certain that we are providing candidates with the right tools for success,” states Judy Davies, Co-Chair.

Registration is available online at www.paro.ca.  There is no charge for the event.
