THUNDER BAY – Thunder Bay Fire Rescue is on scene at the Roy Building on Victoria Avenue East. Crews were called out when a fire alarm went off this morning.

Right now there is no smoke, but the alarm is still ringing.

Crews are contacting the building owner.

The Roy Building has been recently renovated, and is set to offer retail space on the lower levels, and housing units on the upper floors.

UPDATE: 10:14EDT – Fire Crews report that the incident is a smoke detector that went off in the building.

The Roy Building is one of the positive signs of major urban renewal in the downtown core.
