THUNDER BAY – Thunder Bay has a long tradition of sailing. There are sailboats from Lasers to Lightning to large yachts that all sail, cruise and race on Lake Superior.
Sailors ply the waters of Thunder Bay harbour on a very frequent basis from the May Long Weekend until well into October.
During the summer Thunder Bay is a sailor’s dream most days. This summer, the Temple Reef Sailing Club, with event partners the Thunder Bay Yacht Club, are hosting the Canadian Lightning Championships in tandem with the Great Lakes Masters’ Championship for Laser Class sailboats.
The races will be held on Lake Superior, in Thunder Bay, on July 12th and 13th, 2014.
July is proving to be a full month of summer fun.
From July 14th to 20th, the PGA TOUR Canada, Staal Foundation Open will be held at the beautiful Whitewater Golf Club.
There are events happening city wide during the PGA Canada Event.
