THUNDER BAY – THUNDER BAY – Mary Kozorys, NDP candidate for Thunder Bay Atikokan states, “New Democratic Party plans for Toronto-area transit means job creation in Thunder Bay”.

“New Democrats are long-standing advocates of a Buy Ontario policy,” Kozorys said. “When we invest in mass transit vehicles like new GO trains and subway cars for the GTA, New Democrats will make sure the Thunder Bay Bombardier plant will be building them.”

Kozerys states, “A New Democratic government will reinstate strong Buy Ontario policies the Liberals cancelled. We will ensure that municipalities across Ontario that receive provincial funds to purchase mass transit vehicles give preference to vehicles whose final assembly is done in Ontario”.

“That’s a plan that makes sense for Thunder Bay,” Kozorys said. “The NDP transit plan invests more than the Liberals and, crucially, gets the funds flowing more quickly. That’s how to get Ontario moving and create good local jobs.”

Kozorys noted that Andrea Horwath’s Plan that Makes Sense also provides strong and consistent funding for Northwestern transportation.

“The NDP is the only party that is committed to widening 30 kilometres of highway in the North every year,” she said. “We will deliver on our plans for job creation and infrastructure investment.”
