Road ConstructionTHUNDER BAY – Road Construction on the Junot/Golf Links Road are set to continue. Stage 2A of the Golf Links/Junot Corridor road construction and widening begins the week of May 26. This stage of the project will see Golf Links Road from Oliver Road to Linden Court closed to through traffic for up to 20 weeks.

The work will result in improvements including:
·         Road widening to four lanes
·         New sidewalks and curbing
·         Street lighting
·         Active transportation trails
·         Storm sewer and culvert drainage improvements
·         Sanitary sewer extensions
·         Utility relocations
·         Intersection improvements.

The first stage of construction will involve closure of Golf Links between Riviera Drive and Sunrise Blvd. Detours will be posted. The road will remain open for local access to the residential subdivisions. Access to the Thunder Bay Regional Hospital will remain open from Oliver Road at all times and from Golf Links Road via the south only. Local access to residences and businesses on Golf Links Road will be maintained throughout the construction period.

Other project stages will be announced as work proceeds.  Subsequent stages of construction may allow partial southbound (one lane) direction through traffic.

Motorists are encouraged to utilize alternate routes. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

As various portions of Golf Links Road are closed for reconstruction, Route #9 Junot buses will be required to detour accordingly. Transit will make every effort to provide service to as many bus stops as possible. Transit customers are encouraged to access the Thunder Bay Transit website and/or consult with Transit Operators regarding detours.
