TORONTO – The Thunder Bay Sportop midget AA Queens had to settle for a fourth place finish at the Ontario Women’s Hockey Association provincial championships in Toronto as they dropped a narrow 2-1 decision, in overtime, to the Whitby Wolves in the bronze medal game Sunday afternoon.

Mykaela Volpe scored the game-winner during a power play six minutes into OT to give Whitby the win.

Samantha Strassburger notched the lone goal for the Queens with Azia Vass picking up the assist.

Shots on goal favoured the winners by a 19-18 margin.

The Sudbury Lady Wolves won the provincial final defeating the Stoney Creek Sabres 3-0 in the title game.

Sudbury now advances to the Esso Cup Canadian female midget championship April 20-26, which will be hosted by Stoney Creek.
