THUNDER BAY – The issue of the Event Centre in Thunder Bay has been an issue of great debate recently.

Lakehead University students are launching an online survey to gauge support in the community for the Event Centre.

The Tourism and Recreation Economics class, in the School of Outdoor Recreation, Parks and Tourism, at Lakehead University is conducting a study on the perceptions of Thunder Bay residents towards a proposed events centre, the Multiplex, to be built in the downtown Port Arthur area near the waterfront. We are inviting you to participate in this study. Public awareness and insights are important, and it is important that your thoughts towards the planning and development of a Multiplex centre are known before major decisions are made. The information you provide will be used by the Class to better understand economic theories and planning processes related to the Multiplex development in Thunder Bay.

Please take about 10 minutes of your time to participate in our study. Your participation in this study is strictly voluntary. You may choose to stop participating at any time. You may decline to answer any question at any time. Individual responses will be summarized and not identified in the results or with any personal information. Any publication or presentation of the data will not identify individual responses. There is no apparent risk for participating in the study. The study data will only used by the Lakehead University Tourism and Recreation Economics class as a class project. The data from this study will be stored at Lakehead University for five years. Please note that this study is not endorsed by any organization or group, including the City of Thunder Bay.
