Winds will become northwest 20 km/h gusting to 40 early this afternoon. The high today will be -23. Wind chill values will hit -44c.

In Thunder Bay the cold temperatures means that exposed skin can freeze in under five to ten minutes.

Further south, in Minnesota, the cold weather has caused schools in many communities to close for the day. In Thunder Bay so far all schools and bus routes are open. The Lakehead Board of Education will update by 07:00EST.

Likely if you didn’t plug in your vehicle last night, it is not going to want to start with ease this morning.
