Health Care Pros Encouraged to Make Thunder Bay Home

THUNDER BAY – News – Thunder Bay is encouraging upcoming health care professionals to choose Thunder Bay as their career location. The City will host the 13th Annual Home for the Holidays Health Care Student Reception at the Thunder Bay Art Gallery on Monday, Dec. 23, from 12 – 2 pm.

The Health Care Student Reception is an annual event for students from Thunder Bay studying medicine or other health care fields. Students are provided the opportunity to meet with local health care representatives and start discussing employment options. This reception attracts a wide cross-section of students who are studying in fields such as medicine, nursing, nutrition, pharmacy, rehabilitation and speech language pathology along with many others.

“Reaching out to the next generation of health care professionals is just one way our community can help in the recruitment effort,” said Mayor Keith Hobbs. “Our community is the home of world-class health care facilities and we encourage health care students from Thunder Bay to consider career opportunities in their hometown once they complete their education.”

No Place Like Thunder Bay

“This is a fun event where the students reconnect with one another, network with health care representatives and learn about potential career opportunities,” said Cheryl Armstrong, Community Relations Coordinator. “There’s no place like home!”

The 2013 Health Care Student Reception is presented by the City of Thunder Bay Community & Emergency Services Department and supported by the following sponsors: RBC Royal Bank and the Northern Ontario School of Medicine Thunder Bay Local NOSM Group.

Health care students interested in attending are asked to RSVP by e-mail to carmstrong@thunderbay.ca or call 625-2247.
