Thunder Bay Queens are in the thick of it for this weekend’s hockey tournament

QueensTHUNDER BAY – Sports – The Thunder Bay Queens are in the thick of it for this weekend’s hockey tournament. Thunder Bay Queens home hockey season goes this weekend as the organization is set to host their annual Showcase event, which runs Friday through Sunday at Fort William First Nation Arena.

A total of 44 games will contested in four divisions throughout the weekend and features 19 teams, including all five of the Queens’ representative squads taking part.

Competing along with the defending provincial champion and Canadian silver medal winning Sportop midget AA Queens will be the Ontario Power Generation midget A, Taranis Contracting bantam AA, Hank the Tank Welding bantam A and Triad Contracting peewees.

  In Thunder Bay are teams from Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Minnesota and Michigan along with various clubs from across northern and northwestern Ontario.

Game action got underway Friday morning at 8 a.m. and will conclude Sunday with championship games in each division.
