Murder Victim and Accused Identified by Thunder Bay Police

THUNDER BAY – The Thunder Bay Police arrested a thirty-two year old Thunder Bay man for Second Degree Murder of a forty-eight year old male. The victim of the homicide has been identified as Martin Fabian Achneepineskum.

The accused, Jeffrey Morris Kakegamic, made a court appearance today and was remanded to the District Jail. His next court appearance will be December 10th, 2012.

At 3:30PM on December 2, 2012, Police Officers attended a residence in the 200 block of McIntyre Street after receiving a 911 call about a male being attacked in the residence. When officers arrived they began CPR on the victim who had been stabbed and had no vital signs. The male was rushed to the hospital by ambulance however he succumbed to his injuries.

The accused was arrested at the scene. He has been charge with Second Degree Murder and two counts of Breach of Probation. Police report that the victim and the accused were know to each other and alcohol was a factor in this incident. The Criminal Investigation Branch is continuing to investigate the details of this incident.
