THUNDER BAY – To celebrate International Women’s Day CAW Local 229 has partnered with local unions in Thunder Bay to host a special event for women only!

CAW Local 229 has partnered with CAW Local 1075 (Bombardier), CEP Great Lakes Local 39 and CEP Local 7-0 (Dilico Family Services) are hosting an all women’s expo at the Lakehead Labour Centre this evening from 5:00-9:00 pm. All women in Thunder Bay are invited to attend free of charge, guest speaker will be Kari Jefford President CAW Local 229 at 7:00 pm. There will be numerous door prizes donated by every vendor participating in the event, and light refreshments all provided free of charge!

Kari Jefford states “To celebrate International Women’s Day this year CAW Local 229 reached out to create partnerships with other unions and labour affiliates to provide an entirely cost free expo for the women of Thunder Bay and District. We invited all local women entrepreneurs, business owners and service providers to take part in a free expo for both the businesses and the attendees”.

“This year’s theme is ‘taking care of you’. Women generally do a lot for everyone in their life and don’t normally take time to treat themselves”.

The vendors at the expo have a lot of products and services to offer women to take care of themselves and give themselves a much needed break. The second advantage to the expo is to open up a huge opportunity for women in our community to network. Some of the types of businesses attending are educational services, financial services, employment services, endless products and manufacturing services and also family and counselling services.”
