crimebeat Thunder BayTHUNDER BAY – Crimebeat – The standoff on Northern Avenue is over. A 22 year old Thunder Bay man has been taken into custody at Victoriaville just after 1:00 p.m. today as part of the investigation into an armed robbery of the Mac’s Store at 708 May Street North early this morning. Police had contained the man’s residence in the 800 block of Northern Avenue this morning following the robbery.

The investigation continues into the robbery.

The suspect’s resident was entered by the Emergency Task Unit just before 3:00 p.m. A search has been conducted of the residence. No one was inside when police entered. Northern Avenue was reopened shortly after the police entry to the home.

The male remains in custody and charges are pending in connection with the robbery. A number of items were seized during the search of the Northern Avenue residence including what appears to be a replica handgun.
