Lakehead UniversityKINGSTON – Sports – The Lakehead University women’s basketball team managed only 44 points in their first regular season game, losing by 13 to Queen’s Golden Gaels, 57-44. Lakehead’s Top scorers were Lindsay Druery with 12 points (and 11 rebounds), Kelsey Bardley with 11 markers, and Sierra Guy with 6 points and 7 boards.

The Golden Gaels were led by Brittany Moore with 13 points, and Jenny Wright came in for 16 minutes , scoring 7, grabbing 7 rebounds, and dishing 3 dimes with a steal to boot.

Coach Jon Kreiner liked his team’s defense, and explained their offensive struggles after the game. “Our defense kept us in it for a while, but when you aren’t scoring eventually a run will happen and we did not respond well (24-11 in 3rd). We struggled getting the ball inside with the pass and dribble. Most of our offense was on the perimeter and we traveled far too many times. We missed far too many lay-ups and I felt we bailed out instead of going up strong”.

The women face RMC tomorrow afternoon at 2 pm.
