Ontario VotesTHUNDER BAY – There was some welcome news for Liberal candidates Bill Mauro and Michael Gravelle today. The Canadian Auto Workers Union has publicly endorsed both Ontario Liberal candidates. In an e-mail to their membership, local CAW President Kari Jefford said, “CAW has had a very strong and positive working relationship with the local Liberal incumbents for the past 8 years. The two local NDP candidates are very inexperienced….We need to speak about the risks of losing our current Liberal seats to the NDP seats in reality giving the Conservatives a possible win tomorrow.”

The latest polls in Ontario are showing the Progressive Conservatives and Liberals in a tight race.

Bill Mauro said, of the endorsement, “I want to thank the CAW for their endorsement. I have been working very hard for the CAW workers in the Thunder Bay region—and our Liberal government’s investments have made a difference. We’ve helped create hundreds of jobs for the CAW members, at our Bombardier Plant and saved hundreds of jobs at Homes for the Aged and Yes Employment Services. I’m committed to bring more good paying jobs to our region”.

Michael Gravelle commented, “I am very pleased to have the positive endorsement of the CAW. I have advocated on behalf of all the CAW membership during my 16 years in office. If re-elected, I will continue to advocate for CAW workers to see that even greater opportunities come to the membership in our region. I look forward to continuing to see that their work is appreciated and acknowledged”.
