Thunder Bay QueensHAMILTON — The Thunder Bay Sportop midget AA Queens went undefeated in day one action Friday at the 9th annual Stoney Creek Sabres Showcase in Hamilton opening up with a come from behind tie before skating to a one-sided triumph in their second contest of the day.

Taking on the Clarington Flames Friday morning Emily Oleksuk notched the tying goal as the Queens rallied for a 2-2 draw.

Samantha Isbell had the other Thunder Bay tally while Jayde Turcotte was solid making 22 saves to help her side, which was outshot 24-11 overall, pick up the point.

Game 2 saw Samatha Strassburger fire a hat-trick and set-up another in a 7-1 romp over the Durham West Lightning.

Bronwyn Bolduc, who had an assist vs. Clarington, went on a spree against the Lightning tacking on another five helpers in the triumph.

Isbell meanwhile had another productive outing scoring once while doling out a trio of assists.

Kaley Tienhaara, Azia Vass and Karli Nummikoski all added singles to complete the offensive output.

Sydney Isbell made 13 stops for Thunder Bay who blasted 31 attempts at the Durham West net.

Round robin action for the Queens continues Saturday as they take on the Buffalo Bisons at 10:35 a.m.
