TatankaTHUNDER BAY – UPDATED – April 24 – The Northern Ontario Commissioner for Great North Wrestling Chris Krumps has shared some bad news for wrestling fans with NetNewsledger.com. The GNW event has been cancelled. “If you have purchased ticketed, you can take them to Fort William Gardens for a refund”, commented Krumps.

Hannibal is headed back to Thunder Bay to settle a score. His Thunder Bay win-loss record is one win by disqualification and one loss. Last year, after attempting to take out special guest referee Terry Funk, the ever-unpredictable wrestler lost to Kevin Nash after taking a low blow and then being smashed through a table in the centre of the ring in Fort William Gardens to the delight of the large and enthusiastic crowd that was in attendance.

This year, Hannibal promises it will be different. He says there will be an official Great North Wrestling referee, and he will have his new manager Catherine there to watch his back and make sure the referee does his job.

However Hannibal is going up against Tatanka, whose record two year undefeated string in the WWE® remains a mountain to climb for all WWE® newcomers. Tatanka is known for his devastating arsenal of chops including his top rope Tomahawk Chop which is usually followed by his renegade drop finishing move.

Tatanka is likely to have a large army of supporters behind him as First Nation’s residents are expected to line up behind their champion, and support him as he faces one of his biggest challenges.

HannibalHannibal seems oblivious to the potential of angering First Nations people in his quest for success in Thunder Bay. He has wrestled Tatanka on two other occasions including once in Europe for the British All Star Wrestling promotion. They each hold a victory over each other.

This match will decide which man is truly the best, and Hannibal says he’s in excellent shape.

Hannibal’s matches in May will be his last as a professional wrestler for a while.

He is a former National Champion in Freestlyle wrestling ,and has been training regularly with the Montreal Wrestling Club in hopes of making a comeback in that sport. He plans to start competing in regular competition this year and compete in the Olympic trials in December.

“This will be my last big pro match before I shift my focus back to amateur wrestling,” Hannibal shares. “I plan on going out with a bang. I want to humiliate Tatanka in front of all of his First Fations fans from Thunder Bay and across Northern Ontario. We are tied one match each right now and it’s been bothering me for a long time. It’s time that I settle this score once and for all.”

When asked who has the harder chop, Hannibal laughed. “I can bench press over 500 pounds. I’m bigger then Tatanka. I’m stronger then Tatanka. I will take great pleasure in showing Tatanka how to execute a chop properly. I’m going to hit him so hard he’s going to be knocked right out of the ring. His chest will be blistered and he’ll be begging for mercy in front of all his Native fans.”

One thing is for sure. It will be a hard-hitting, action packed contest when these two behemoths collide in the ring on May 7th at Fort William Gardens.

The main event of the night will be a “no holds barred” match between local favorite Vampiro and former WWE, WCW, and TNA star Raven.

As well, there will be a hair vs. hair match between Lanny Poffo and The massive Bruiser. In another high flying match, Gamma Singh Jr. will face the up-and coming favourite of the ladies, Jeremy Prophet. The full details can be found online at the Great North Wrestling Facebook site.
