Police Investigating Early-Morning Weapons Incident on Memorial Avenue

THUNDER BAY — Thunder Bay Police Service officers are continuing to investigate a weapons-related incident reported early Sunday morning, January 18, 2026.

Police say members of the Primary Response Unit were dispatched to the Memorial Avenue area at about 2:00 a.m. after a person was located suffering from injuries.

Victim Taken to Hospital

The victim was transported to the Thunder Bay Health Sciences hospital for treatment. Police have not released further details about the individual’s condition or the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Major Crime Unit Assisting

The Major Crime Unit has been assigned and the investigation remains ongoing.

Increased Police Presence Expected

Residents can expect a visible police presence in the 10th Avenue area as officers continue their work.
