  • Low–Moderate: Remainder of the Northeast Region.
Check the province’s Interactive Fire Map for local conditions before you travel or burn.

FireSmart: Small Changes, Big Impact

Fires that start in the forest can quickly threaten homes in the wildland–urban interface. Review FireSmart guidance to create a non-combustible zone around buildings, move woodpiles away from structures, clear needles/leaves from roofs and gutters, and prune lower tree branches.

Outdoor Burning Rules (Know Before You Burn)

AFFES reminds residents to avoid burning yard waste; choose composting or landfill instead. If you must burn:

  • Ignite no sooner than 2 hours before sunset; extinguish no later than 2 hours after sunrise.

  • Keep water and tools on site to control the fire.

  • Follow all Outdoor Burning Regulations for your municipality/township.

Reporting a Wildfire

  • South of those rivers: 911
