Thunder Bay Border Cats score franchise-best 25 runs in dominant win over Eau Claire Express
THUNDER BAY – SPORTS – If you were anywhere near Port Arthur Stadium Saturday night, you probably heard the crack of the bat—and heard it again. And again. And again.
The Thunder Bay Border Cats put on an offensive clinic, routing the Eau Claire Express 25–6 in a record-setting performance that had fans on their feet and scorekeepers scrambling.
That’s right—25 runs on the board, setting a new franchise record for most runs scored in a single game!
SHEFFIELD SLAMS THE DOOR OPEN
The fireworks started early—Jeremy Sheffield (Georgetown University) launched his third homer of the week, his fourth of the season, to put Thunder Bay on the board in the bottom of the first.
He wasn’t done there—Sheffield tallied three hits and 3 RBI on the night and walked away with Cwench Player of the Game honours, thanks to the Border Cats’ official hydration partner.
A NIGHT FOR THE RECORD BOOKS
It was hit after hit and RBI after RBI as the Cats put the game out of reach by the middle innings.
-
Calvin Warrilow (Dodge City CC) had a multi-hit, 4-RBI performance, swinging with confidence all night.
-
Ayden Hadley (Sacramento State) and Junior Lopez (Ottawa University) each drove in three runs.
-
Jacob Steinberg (Belmont Abbey College) added a tidy pair of RBI for good measure.
And it wasn’t just the bats doing damage.
GLUTH GETS IT DONE ON THE HILL
Starter Braden Gluth (Creighton University) went five strong innings, striking out four and keeping Eau Claire in check to earn the win on the mound.
With the win, Thunder Bay improves to 31–26 overall and 10–13 in the second half, keeping their playoff hopes alive and kicking.
