overeem in post fightTHUNDER BAY – From UFC 141 live from Las Vegas at the MGM Grand in the main event of the evening Brock Lesnar vs Alistair Overeem.

This battle has been awaited for by fans as a battle of the giants of UFC, with some figuring Lesnar will make a great comeback after a 14 month layoff.

Others are positive that Overeem can not be beaten, and especially not by Brock Lesnar.

The UFC poll suggests that 53% figure Lesnar will win with 47% saying Overeem will win.

Is the beast back? Here we go!

Round One: Coming to the octagon, Overeem is looking solid and determined.

The lights dimmed as Brock Lesnar started to the ring with music blaring, and looking ready for a fight.

The fight opened with both fighters staring each other down.

The fighters were feeling each other out, Lesnar opens with two kicks.

Overeem counters.

Lesnar attempts a takedown and Overeem counters.

Overeem has a cut opened over his eye.

Overeem is kneeing Lesnar. Huge knees to the body by Overeem.

Lesnar’s chest is red from the hits.

Overeem appears able to land knees without problem.

Lesnar falls from shots to the body, and crumples to the matt. It was a knee to the Liver area that send Lesnar to the ground.

The fight was over quickly as Lesnar couldn’t do anything to defend.

It was all Overeem. Finishing Lesnar and the fight was stopped by the referee.

The fight was over at the 2:25 minute mark of the fight.

The victory is a TKO for Alistair Overeem.

Post fight, Lesnar said he takes his hat off to Overeem.

He also said that “This is the last time you will see me in the Octagon”.

“Brock Lesnar is officially retired,” stated the former UFC champion. Lesnar said he had promised his wife and children if he won the fight he would challenge for the title. He said “If I lost I promised my family I would retire”.
