TACOMA, Wash. – One week after capturing his third event title of the season in Billings, Montana, No. 2 Brady Fielder (Clermont, Australia) recorded a 92.35-point ride on Sucker Punch to win Round 1 of the Cooper Tires PBR Tacoma at Tacoma Dome on Friday night.
“It’s beautiful,” Fielder said on the Paramount+ telecast. “This feels amazing and I am very grateful for this tonight.”
Fielder earned his fourth round win of the year to kick off the final regular-season event of the 2026 Unleash The Beast (UTB) campaign.
The Australian cowboy netted 29 UTB points and is now 236.5 points behind No. 1 John Crimber (Decatur, Texas), who recorded an 89-point conversion atop Level Up to earn runner-up place honors in the opening round.
Crimber earned 18 UTB points for his tour-best 28th qualified ride of the season.
No. 3 Sage Steele Kimzey (Strong City, Oklahoma) and No. 4 Leandro Zampollo (Pirassununga, Brazil) are out of competition this weekend due to respective injuries.
With one day remaining in the regular season schedule, just 583 UTB points separate No. 15 Cassio Dias (São F. de Sales, Brazil) from No. 1 Crimber in a dramatic world title race.
2022 PBR World Champion Daylon Swearingen (Piffard, New York) produced a qualified ride following a rematch dance with Ugly This, scored 87.50 points to sit in fourth place on the event leaderboard ahead of Round 2.
Swearingen earned 16 UTB points for his productive start to the weekend.
Round 1 also featured the final game of Monster Energy Team Challenge (METC)
Championship competition, with the No. 1 Missouri Thunder and No. 2 Austin Gamblers duking it out for trophy-hoisting honors during Friday night’s final outs.
The Missouri Thunder defeated the Austin Gamblers 254.75-171.35 courtesy of a walk-off ride from Julio Cesar Marques (Tatuí, Brazil) during the final out of the game.
“We feed off the energy and when we get the momentum. Whether it’s in Las Vegas for the Teams Championship or here for this, it’s momentum and we just love that, we crave it. We work hard, we practice hard, you reap what you sow,” said Missouri Thunder Coach Ross Coleman.
“I’m from Oregon and I love everything about the Pacific Northwest, the fresh air, the people, the fans, and there is nothing that makes me prouder than to get this trophy right here, it’s like a hometown feel.”
No. 5 Paulo Eduardo Rossetto struck first for Missouri by matching Real Deal step-for-step, scored 87.15 points. Rossetto advanced to a series-best 4-for-6 within METC competition this season and earned 15 UTB points for his fifth-place finish.
Following an automatic review for time, Vinicius Pinheiro Correa (Aimores, Brazil) was credited with an 8-second effort atop Taco Truck (83.35 points) to get the Gamblers on the board.
Vinicius Rodrigues Pereira (Itapagipe, Brazil) doubled down for the Thunder, scored 82.35 points as Missouri’s fifth man to give it a go.
Callum Miller recaptured the lead for the Gamblers moments later courtesy of an 88-point ride on Frankenstomp, which earned the Australian a third-place finish in the round.
Miller netted 17 UTB points for his successful attempt.
But it was Marques who stole the show with his career-first walk-off conversion to secure
the Championship victory for Missouri in the bottom of the seventh. Marques went the distance atop Kinky Brahmer to the tune of 85.25 points.
The 40 highest-ranked available UTB riders will earn a spot at next month’s 2026 PBR World Finals in Fort Worth, Texas (May 7-17). Riders ranked within bubble territory will need to make the most of Saturday’s final regular season rounds of competition.
Action for the Cooper Tires PBR Tacoma will continue with Round 2, immediately followed by the Championship Round, on Saturday April 25 at 6:45 p.m. PT.
Day 2’s event coverage is set to begin on Paramount+ at 7 p.m. PT.
This weekend’s Monster Energy Team Challenge Championship game will air on CBS Television Network on Sunday, April 26 at 10 a.m. PT.
