The Foundry on Red River Road... as the magic of the new look of Red River Road continues

THUNDER BAY — This weekend, Thunder Bay is bursting with events for every age and interest — from wellness expos to whiskey tastings, community fundraisers to heritage celebrations. Here’s a roundup of what’s happening across the city, in no particular order:


Health and Wellness on Display at Goods & Co.

KWIK Co. and Wilen Art are teaming up to present the Thunder Bay Health and Wellness Expo on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Goods & Co. Market. Attendees can expect expert speakers, drop-in wellness classes, product samples, local health vendors, prizes and more. Online registration is available for those planning to attend.

While you are downtown, check out 3Ride for the latest in bikes and bike accessories. On Red River Road check out “Red River Dogs” for a fantastic selection of hotdogs.


Recovery Rocks the CLE Coliseum

The Thunder Bay Drug Awareness Committee will host Rockin’ Recovery at the Canadian Lakehead Exhibition’s Coliseum Building on Saturday from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. This free, family-friendly event features stories of recovery from individuals with lived experience, music by Sara Kae and Julian Lemieux, activities, and more than 50 booths from recovery-focused organisations. A Community Corner will be hosted by the Thunder Bay Indigenous Friendship Centre.


Golf for a Cause with Turnkey Communications

On Saturday afternoon, Turnkey Communications will host a charity golf tournament at Emerald Greens Golf Course, teeing off at 1 p.m.

All proceeds will benefit the Northwestern Ontario Air Search and Rescue Association (CASARA). The event will close with a dinner and a keynote address by CASARA Ontario’s Robert Desjardins.


Mz Molly Brings Magic to the Library

Families are invited to Story Time with Mz Molly and Friends at the Mary J.L. Black Library, from 2:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday.

This free event will include a special guided crafting session led by Fairy Contagious and guest Devin Devine.


Saturday Night Sounds: Local Music & Legends

Music lovers have multiple options on Saturday night:

  • The Honest Heart Collective will rock the Lakehead Beer Company outdoor stage at 8 p.m.

  • Over at the Port Arthur Legion Branch 5, catch Alfie Zappacosta with Andrew Glover on keys in The Club Room at 8 p.m. Tickets are $35 plus tax, available in advance (cash only, no refunds).

  • Check the local clubs for their music offerings. The Foundry on Red River will be fun!

Japanese Whiskey Night at Red Lion Smokehouse

Whiskey enthusiasts can take a journey through Japan’s finest pours at Red Lion Smokehouse’s Whiskey “Club” Symposium, happening Saturday from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m. The $75 ticket includes four whiskey pours and light snacks, focusing on the unique flavours of Japanese Whiskeys.


Rotary Peace Ceremony at Marina Park

On Sunday at 10 a.m., several local Rotary Clubs and community organizations will gather at Tai Chi Garden in Marina Park to mark World Peace Day with a Rotary Peace Day Ceremony.


Sunday Streets Filled with Harvest Vibes

The fourth annual Good Harvest Farmers Market returns to Goods & Co. Market on Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Red River Road will be closed from Court Street to St. Paul Street for the free outdoor event, which features local farmers, fall vendors, kids’ activities, a corn boil, apple cider and pumpkins.


Thunder Bay Celebrates its Racing Roots

From 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Oliver Paipoonge Heritage Park will host a Celebration of Racing in Thunder Bay at Russ’s Garage. Expect vintage race cars, memorabilia, and drivers past and present.

A Vendor Day and live music on the Paterson Pavilion Stage will run concurrently from 12 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Admission is $5 (13+), free for kids under 12.


Special Olympics Torch Run Lights Up Chapples Park

Also on Sunday, from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m., the Northwest Soccer Complex at Chapples Park will host a Torch Run for Special Olympics. Organized with the support of the Law Enforcement Torch Run team, the event will feature athletes alongside local police, emergency services vehicles, and more.
