Thunder Bay Crime Report: Ear Falls Man Charged with Impaired Driving on Highway 17

OPP URGES IMPAIRED DRIVING TO BE TREATED LIKE THE SERIOUS CRIME IT IS

THUNDER BAY – June 5, 2025 — A 56-year-old man from Ear Falls, Ontario is facing impaired driving charges following a traffic complaint along Highway 17 last month.

On Saturday, May 10, 2025, at approximately 10:29 p.m., officers from the Thunder Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a possible impaired driver in the Unorganized Territory of Thunder Bay.

Police quickly located the vehicle in question and conducted a traffic stop. During the investigation, officers determined that the driver had consumed alcohol, prompting an arrest for suspected impairment. The individual was then transported to the detachment for further testing.

As a result, Ronald MILLS, 56, of Ear Falls, Ontario, has been charged under the Criminal Code with:

  • Operation While Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs

  • Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 Plus)

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Thunder Bay on June 18, 2025.
