THUNDER BAY – LOCAL NEWS – The intersection of Park Avenue and Court Street in downtown Thunder Bay will be temporarily closed from Wednesday, May 21 to Friday, May 23, as crews install new traffic signals to improve road safety and traffic flow.
The City of Thunder Bay says the closure is required to complete essential electrical and structural upgrades at the intersection. This work is part of ongoing infrastructure improvements across the city aimed at modernizing traffic control systems.
While no official detour routes will be provided, drivers are strongly encouraged to avoid the area during the closure period and seek alternative routes to reduce congestion and ensure safety for both workers and the public.
“Work like this is critical to maintaining safe and efficient transportation infrastructure,” said a spokesperson from the City’s Infrastructure & Operations Department. “We thank residents and local businesses for their patience as we complete this upgrade.”
The City also reminds motorists to drive cautiously around all construction zones and adhere to posted signage.
