25-Year-Old Male Arrested After Incident Involving Female Passenger

THUNDER BAY, ON – A 25-year-old Thunder Bay man has been charged with sexual assault following an overnight incident involving a licensed taxicab driver and a female passenger.

Thunder Bay Police Service (TBPS) Primary Response officers were called to an address on Cumberland Street South shortly after 1:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 15, after receiving a report of a sexual assault.

Upon arrival, officers spoke with the female victim, who reported that she was a passenger in a taxi when she was allegedly sexually assaulted by the driver. The victim was transported to hospital for medical assessment and care.

Through swift investigative efforts, officers were able to identify the suspect vehicle and the driver involved.

The accused was arrested and appeared in court on Thursday.

Thunder Bay Police continue to investigate the incident.
