THUNDER BAY — Two individuals have been arrested following a robbery and sexual assault involving a female passenger who had arranged transportation through an unlicensed ride-sharing service.
Just before 11 p.m. on Thursday, April 24, the Thunder Bay Police Service (TBPS) received a report from an adult female who attended the police station after being threatened and assaulted during a ride she had arranged via a group chat.
Upon entering the vehicle, the victim was threatened with a weapon by an occupant and forced to surrender personal valuables and complete an e-transfer under duress. After complying, the victim was able to exit the vehicle safely and immediately contacted police.
The Break and Enter and Robbery (BEAR) Unit of the Thunder Bay Police Service launched an investigation, leading to the swift identification and arrest of two suspects on Friday, April 25.

Both accused have appeared in court and have been remanded in custody pending future court dates.
