Southern Ontario man arrested after police execute Tupper Street search warrant linked to trafficking probe
THUNDER BAY – CRIME REPORTS – Thunder Bay Police have arrested a 23-year-old Brampton man following the seizure of suspected cocaine, fentanyl, and a loaded firearm during a raid on a city residence. The bust marks another significant development in the ongoing crackdown on drug trafficking in Northwestern Ontario.
Search Warrant Executed on Tupper Street
On Wednesday, April 23, members of the Thunder Bay Police Service’s Emergency Task Unit executed a search warrant at a residence on Tupper Street. The action stemmed from an investigation led by the Intelligence Unit into suspected drug trafficking in the city.
Upon entering the residence, officers located and arrested a male suspect without incident.
Major Seizure of Drugs, Cash, and a Loaded Handgun
The search uncovered a substantial quantity of suspected illicit substances, including cocaine and fentanyl. In addition, police seized a loaded handgun, trafficking paraphernalia, and a quantity of cash. According to Thunder Bay Police, the estimated street value of the drugs seized is approximately $175,000.

The accused has been identified as Rige RICHARDS, 23, of Brampton, Ontario. He faces several serious criminal charges, including:

RICHARDS appeared in court on Thursday, April 24, and has been remanded into custody. A future court date has yet to be confirmed.
Heavy Penalties If Convicted
If convicted, RICHARDS faces significant federal prison time. Under Canadian law, drug trafficking offenses involving fentanyl or cocaine can result in up to life imprisonment, with mandatory minimum sentences in place. The possession of a loaded, prohibited firearm in connection with drug trafficking substantially increases the severity of potential sentencing.
