Hazardous Conditions Prompt Full Closures on Key Highways – OPP Urges Drivers to Stay Off the Roads

Thunder Bay – NEWS – The Ontario Provincial Police (Manitoulin Detachment) is advising the public of several road closures across the region as winter weather continues to create hazardous driving conditions.

Current Highway Closures:

  • Highway 17 from Espanola (Hwy 6/Hwy 17 intersection) to Lively (Sudbury)

  • Highway 6 from Little Current to Espanola

  • Highway 6 from Little Current to South Baymouth

  • Highway 540 from Little Current to Meldrum Bay

Motorists are reminded that driving on a closed highway is not only dangerous, but may also lead to a $110 fine and 3 demerit points on your license.

Drivers are urged to avoid travel in affected areas and consult Ontario 511 for the most up-to-date information on road conditions and closures.
