Alert officers foil robbery targeting elderly man; suspect arrested after foot pursuit

THUNDER BAY – NEWS – Thunder Bay Police Service officers with the Major Crime Unit arrested a suspect following a brazen robbery attempt in broad daylight on Wednesday, October 9, 2024.

The incident occurred around 2 PM EDT near McKellar and Arthur Street when officers witnessed a man threatening an elderly victim and demanding money.

The suspect, identified as 24-year-old Skyler GEORGE, attempted to flee but was apprehended after a brief foot chase and struggle.

GEORGE now faces multiple charges, including Robbery, Uttering Threats, Resisting Arrest, and Breach of Probation. He remains in custody pending his next court appearance.

All accused are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
